Lately I have not been going out much during the day. I go for my walk at night. In the late evening I garden. For the most part during the day I stay inside. You would think I was a vampire or something. I decided it is because I don't like the sun in my face so I decided I need to get more hats. I am so glad there are some lovely hats these days. The hats from the 80's and 90's were for the most part just bad! I came across Hats in the Belfry online shop. They have a pretty good selection in styles for most even men. The ones above are the ones I liked best.

Happy first day of Summer everyone! To celebrate this first day of summer we are giving away a swimsuit from Lime Ricki. I must tell you there are a few things I love about these suits. First they come in a wide range of sizes from XXS to XXL. The XXS & XS will fit your tween girl and will let her look like a girl. The thing is it also looks great on a twenty or thirty something too. They have a cute selection on tops and bottoms to go together. The fabrics are thick and they line the fronts of the tops and the bottoms. The lining in the cups are much better than most of the swimwear out there. I got the Emily top pictured in the middle for my 12 year old daughter along with the brown boyshorts. They are so sweet on her. She is modest but still stylish. Mothers in May * Truly a Treasure

"There are a few mothers that I could have chosen but, I chose my sister Bethany. What makes her a great mother is her ability to be just as excited for her 8th baby that is on the way as she was for her first. She is kind hearted and has a gentle spirit. She shows unfailing patience and love. She has 7 kids and is pregnant with her eighth. She runs a farm. She home schools 6 of those kids. She is the Gospel Doctrine teacher at church. While she goes to one ward with all her children her husband is the Branch President of another. She reads her scriptures. She also makes most of the family meals from scratch as well as grows and takes care of a huge garden with her husband and family. Bethany harvests, cans, and freezes what she grows. She helps her husband butcher animals. She ran the Art merit badge for the Boy Scouts and helps her oldest son earn other merit badges. She helps renovate her home. Does all this and runs the household like most mothers. She reads, and goes for walks. She helps her husband run a sugar bush in the late winter, early spring. She is very busy and still has a smile on her face most of the time. She is rarely angry, and always welcomes the family. I love her and I think she deserves a little something special. "

The Pebbles Story…
The Pebbles in my Pocket story began in 1992. Brenda Birrell was a “work at home” Mom watching over her children and loving it. Some of her happiest days were spent combining her love of journaling with her love of photography. Brenda with the support of her husband, Larry, decided to open a scrapbook business that she hoped would inspire others to begin this fulfilling hobby and “life work”.

Brenda began her venture with a hand drawn mail order catalogue and shipped product out of her home. The business quickly outgrew her home and was moved to several locations before settling into the current location in Orem, Utah in 1994. Our stores in Salt Lake City and St. George, Utah soon followed. We’ve also added a web site pebblesinmypocket.com
A few years later in 1998, Pebbles in my Pocket entered into an alliance with EK Success and created many successful product lines: Paperkin Paper Dolls, Stickerkin Stickers, ABC Tracers and Punches, Tracerkin Stencils and Punches, Overalls and more. We loved being able to share our creativity with so many fellow scrapbookers on such a large scale and will be forever grateful for this experience and the friendships that we made.
In 2001, Brenda took another leap of faith...and opened Pebbles Inc. which put us officially on our own in the manufacturing business! It was an exciting time as we created our first products under the name Pebbles Inc.
The Pebbles in my Pocket name was inspired by Brenda and Larry’s five daughters: Ashlee, Lindsey, Katie, Kelsie and Abby. Everywhere their children went, they would gather pebbles, seashells and such. They would stuff them in their pockets and empty them when they came home. From time to time they would remember these treasures they found along the way. Memories are just like these pebbles and are gathered throughout our lives. Happy times, sad times, frustrations, joys and dreams . . . everything that makes us who we are. What a gift it is to gather our memories and pass them on to loved ones!

{ Tips or Ideas for Scrap booking from Pebbles in My Pocket }

Share & Tell album: Card making is quick and easy with Creative Pads. Journaling Cards—also make really cute recipe cards.

Keep it simple. The purpose of scrap booking is to express yourself and to remember the moments in you life. Don’t overwhelm yourself by comparing yourself to other styles.

• Die cuts are cute and inexpensive ways to accentuate your pages.



• Corner rounders are a great initial scrapbook investment. They can change the look of a page by rounding some or all the edges of your photos or printed paper.



• Look for double sided sheets of patterned cardstock. It’s the quickest and easiest way to find a coordinating color for your project.



• Companies come out with product lines that coordinate their paper with embellishments. This is the fastest and easiest way to put together a color coordinating page is to go by company rather than just color.



• Write down or take pictures of journaling and/ or page layouts that you like so you can look at them later for inspiration. (That’s why Pebbles lets anyone come in and take pictures of our ideas.)



• Do your journaling at the same time as your page, that way you won’t forget the details (and you’ll be more likely to actually do it!)

Mothers in May * Happy Mother's Day

"My mother grew up as one of eight children in rural Canada. Farm life was tough work in those days, and the six girls, of "sturdy German stock," were expected to do their share. Imagine the culture shock when Mom, with my one-year-old sister and infant brother, moved with her husband across the ocean to India to work as missionaries. Another sister arrived in India, followed by a new sister in what was then East Pakistan, and finally me in Bangladesh. Mom and Dad have continued to work in exotic locations, including New York City, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. They finally retired a couple of years ago and moved to Vancouver Island, BC, hoping to enjoy their twelve grandchildren more frequently. Shortly after their retirement and move back to our continent, I discovered I was pregnant with my first baby. And then hubby and I decided to move across the world with their newest grand baby to Mozambique. Rather than expressing regret that we were moving away so soon after they moved back, Mom encouraged us to go, recognizing the calling. I love this photo of Mom with her five sisters and mother, dressed in beautiful Indian saris. My Grandma (far right), a true Canadian pioneer, is still alive and well in her nineties. This photo represents the meeting of two cultures and a mother who followed her calling across the ocean, instilling that same calling into her own children. I want to pass that on to my baby, too."

We finally have our first items up in the Sweet Life in the Valley Shop on Etsy-Picky Pie Hair Accessories. A day late but not a dollar short because we are giving away three sets of these lovely hair clips to three lucky winners. Each of the color styles will be named after & the colors inspired by a girl in our family. With eleven girls and one on the way we will be coming up with nine more color combinations. Mary, Lucy and Addie are all my nieces and as sweet as can be. We are still working on Asia, Allie, Sha', Sephora, Maise, Ester, Cora, Maddie & a new arrival in June. Oh and the name Picky Pie comes from my daughter. It is her nick name. I am not really sure when(sometime when she was really little) and why(mostly because it is cute) we started calling her picky pie and it stuck. Fun Free Fridays * Mod Mum

This week on Fun Free Fridays we are giving away a baby sling from Mod Mum. I must tell you these slings are wonderful. They are made of a nice heavy material that is soft and pretty. The stitching is strong and the shape is perfect for a little body or bum to fit into. They are easy to fold up and put into a diaper bag. I also think they would be an easy way to breastfeed a newborn without anyone realizing you are nursing. The colors selections are great. Here are some pretty finds from the Sundance Catalog. I haven't owned a pair of cowgirl boots in years but these sure would be a lovely flowery pair to wear. I also love the the single pearl necklace. You could wear it with almost anything. If you happen to be in The Valley stop by the Sundance Shop up Provo Canyon.
