My View of the Movie * On My Top 10 List * You've Got Mail

When I watch a movie I am often attracted to a few things. One is the set design and decoration. It must be my background in interior design. I notice the details. I really love the set decoration on You've Got Mail. I love the contrast of the feminine and masculine in the Kathleen ( Meg Ryan) and Joe ( Tom Hanks) apartments. I really want a desk and chair like the one Kathleen has in her home. I love that chair. The back is low but not too low. The desk is simple and classic. I had a basket for my magazines just like the one she has at the end of her sofa. Next the actors in this movie are some of my favorite. I do enjoy the chemistry between Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. But there is also Greg Kinnear ( I have a little crush on him) -recently seen on Baby Mama- and Parker Posey ( charming funny actress in goodies like Best in Show and A Mighty Wind among others) These two as supporting actors make this film complete. I am voting for another film to come out with Nora Ephron Director, producer and writer teaming up Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan again. We need a good fun romantic comedy to add to You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle. If you are reading Nora, Meg or Tom please consider.... Meg Ryan does have a new movie coming out soon. The Women coming out September 12th. This movie has the most amazing line up of actors. I am excited to see her again. You've Got Mail is on my list and will always remain near the top. It is one of my comforts like good home made food. " Don't you just love New York in the fall.. it makes you want to buy school supplies.."

Happenin in the Valley * Sundance Film Festival

A great big thing of note about Our Valley- Sundance just happens to be here! Today is the opening day of the Sundance Film Festival. The Resort is in our county not really in The Valley but up Our Canyon. Although most of the festivities do not happen at Sundance Resort, Sundance does do screenings at the resort. As far as Sweet Things Happenin in Our Valley this is one that is at the top. Because of the writers strike word about town is that many of these Indi Films have a pretty darn good chance of getting signed to go nation wide. Opening film for the festival is “In Bruges” by playwright Martin McDonagh. The festival runs from January 17th- January 27th. There are a 120 films in the festival this year. Pretty much at this point in the game everything is sold-out. But there is news. You can head over to one of the screenings and be on the wait list. You basically wait in line & hope they have room at the last minute. You have to get there early so bring some cards to play or a book to read. I have done this before & a good amount of those who wait-list do get into the screening.

My View of the Movie ~ Dan in Real life

Dan in Real Life was charming and sweet. Many critics said this film is nothing like real life but, isn’t it the real life stories that seem like film as they happen to you or is my life the only life that is full of drama drama drama! I liked it regardless of what some may say. I felt the roller coaster of emotions with Dan (Steven John Carell). Who doesn't want to be browsing through books at your local book store and find the love of your life? A great girls night out movie. Happy viewing!
