Find of the Week * Hats * Summer

{hats & images from Hats in the Belfry}

Lately I have not been going out much during the day. I go for my walk at night. In the late evening I garden. For the most part during the day I stay inside. You would think I was a vampire or something. I decided it is because I don't like the sun in my face so I decided I need to get more hats. I am so glad there are some lovely hats these days. The hats from the 80's and 90's were for the most part just bad! I came across Hats in the Belfry online shop. They have a pretty good selection in styles for most even men. The ones above are the ones I liked best.

Find of the Week * Bathroom Luxury

Slipper Tub - Home Depot

Towel Warmer Costco

Jacquard & Turkish Towels Restoration Hardware

My brother gave his wife a wonderful rain shower head similar to the one shown here for Mother's Day. He also it installed it ready to use before he surprised her with it. That is a sign of true love and thoughtfulness-having it installed too. I have been looking at one of those for a while now. Don't they just look like heaven in a shower. I have wanted a warming towel rack since I was 16 and toured the Villa Philmonte at Philmont boy scout ranch. If you have never heard of it or seen it is villa built as a vacation home for the Philips family back in 1926. My first thoughts of luxury living came from this home from the heated towels racks to a drain near the bathtub to a beautiful walkway arched with climbing roses. What a brilliant idea to have a drain just outside of the tub. I can not count how many time I wish I had one with dripping little ones in my bathroom. I love slipper tubs. Remember the scene in The Holiday where Cameron Diaz is sitting in a small slipper tub? At that moment my dreams of a footed tub turned into dreams of slipper footed tub with it's higher back to rest your head. Most of the finds this week are things that can easily be added to any bathroom to add some luxury.

Find of the Week * In the Garden

Garden Watering Cans by Pottery Barn

Classic Adirondack Chair by L.L. Bean

Wrought Iron Hanging Basket from Lowes

Spray Nozzle from Lowes
Thermometer by Target

Vermont Garden Carts

It is spring and it is almost time to plant here in The Valley. We are a zone 3 0r 4 depending on where you are in The Valley which means Mother's Day weekend is the rule of thumb for planting. Here is a zone guide for those of you not here in The Valley. I love to garden even if it is small and in containers. I have always had some sort of garden. Right now I have a small patch of herbs right out my front door. Some of my must haves are a spray nozzle for watering good gloves and hanging baskets. That lovely Vermont Garden Cart is on my wish list. It is pretty and would be so handy. I am seriously considering Adirondack Chairs for the yard. They are comfortable sturdy and L.L. Bean has a nice fresh selection of colors. We bought a few flowers today to put in our hanging baskets and pots. I also bought some basil to add to our little herb patch. We will be planting some veggies next week. Have fun planting your gardens and remember anyone can grow a little bit of something no matter how small your space.

Find of the Week * Bicycles & Tricycles

{This Pretty Pink Lady is a Schwinn Roxy Cruiser from Target}

{Rockin' Red Bad Boy is a Legacy Cruiser at Target}
{ Boy Blue Tricyle is a Meridan by Schwinn at Walmart }

{ Sweet Pink walled tires from Electra }

{ Vintage style wicker basket by Electra }
{ Mod Black Basket by Electra }

{ Carrier Bag by Electra }

We are in the market for new bicycles for the kids. They have decided they really like the old cruiser style Schwinns so the Schwinns have it this time. Tanner has been determined that he wants to get a tricycle for over a year now so he has chosen the Boy Blue Tricycle shown above. Oh the things a ten year old can haul carry and so with a tricycle with a big basket! I was so excited to see such a cute pink bicycle at such a great price at Target. My favorite accessories are for the most part from Electra. I have an Electra Townie 21 but it looks nothing like the stock bicycle. I have added white wall tires, a two toned saddle, bullhorn handle bars and a chrome bell. During the warmer months we take evening rides on the Provo River Trail which is a nine mile long trail that follows the Provo River from South Fork in Provo Canyon to Utah Lake.

Monday

Find of the Week * Sundance

{Sundance Catalog}

carson bag

flower girl boots

harlow necklace

Here are some pretty finds from the Sundance Catalog. I haven't owned a pair of cowgirl boots in years but these sure would be a lovely flowery pair to wear. I also love the the single pearl necklace. You could wear it with almost anything. If you happen to be in The Valley stop by the Sundance Shop up Provo Canyon. I am amazed how many people live in The Valley and have never wandered up that way. They have a great little shop as well as the Tree Room Restaurant The Foundry Grill The Sundance Deli for a bite to eat.

Wednesday

Find of the Week * Brocade Home Quilt

{Ruffly Ribbon Quilt}

I love love love this ruffly ribbon quilt by Brocade Home. It's so flirty and fluffy and sweet. It would be oh so pretty on a girl's bed or even mine! I have been looking for a new quilt for my bed this may just be the one. Since I am single I decided to have a girly bedroom. My walls are pink with white trim. This off white quilt would be very nice compliment. I would never make my husband(to be) suffer pink walls and ruffles but for now this is just perfect for me. I came across Brocade Home a little while back. They have a fun unique style.

Tuesday

{Pretty Daisy Earrings}

SORRY- Sorry to all my devoted readers. Yesterday was quite the busy day and I didn't a have chance to tell you about these pretty daisy items I found at the Art Institute of Chicago's Museum Shop-I have found that museum shops are a great place to find lovely gifts. Today here they arejust for you! They are perfectly springtimey. The pin is a perfect to addition to this pretty trench or this one. And as for those absolutely beautiful earrings they would look so great with an eyelet dresses like these ones from J Crew.

{Another Pretty Eyelet Dress}

{They would also be sweet with this dotted swiss ruffly dress}

I can see myself at a spring time luncheon wearing one of these dresses accessorised with the daisy earrings. Or even better hosting a lovely daisy themed party myself to wear them to. Happy Spring!

Thursday

Find of the Week * Salt Keeper

I have been wanting this Provence Salt Keeper from William Sonoma for a long while now. Years ago Martha Stewart had a whole feature about all the different types kind of salt there is available. I wish I could find the photos from the article they were amazing. I think most people think there is just the table salt from the Morton's cylinder box but there are so many many more. They are beautiful crystals of ambers and grays and whites. I found a shop that sells all sorts Salt Traders. They even have a blog. You can also get a selection of salts from William Sonoma.

Find of the Week * Hayley Parker

{H.P. Lovecraft - New York City}

These sweet shoes are hand painted by Hayley Parker of H.P.Lovecraft NYC. She just also happens to currently be a local in The Valley. She is quite the lady being featured in Elle & other magazines and having people such as Madonna sporting her shoes. If you are a lucky student at The Walden School in Provo -like my children-she also happens to be your art teacher! Wouldn't you have loved to have an art teacher as cool as Hayley! You can often see her around town at the Provo Downtown Gallery Stroll. She designs custom shoes so if you have something in mind send her an email. You can also purchase her shoes locally at Mode in Provo. I need to order a custom pair for myself for this summer. Maybe you should too.

Find of the Week * Pink Coat

{Valina Swing Trench Coat by Ralph Lauren}

On most days I wear something that is pink even if it is just a shade of pink lip gloss. I love this double breasted pink swing coat by Ralph Lauren. Most swing coats are just an a-line coat but this one comes with a belt which I think makes it extra special. Ralph Lauren does make a quality product and a very nicely detailed coat.

Monday

Find of the Week * Vintage Tablecloths

{Vintage Tablecloths}

With Easter just a few short weeks away and most everyone is to the point where they are done with winter I thought I would share with you this pretty Find of the Week. Feather Your Nest has these lovely vintage inspired tablecloths at a very affordable price. I am partial to anything with berries on it. These tablecloths remind me of my Grandma Bohman. When I was growing up she had some very similar tablecloths. When they began to wear out they would decorate our picnic tables at our family park that is on my Grandparents farm. I think my love of many of the pretty vintage things came from my affection for my Grandma and her simple lovely things she had around her home and on the farm.

My beautiful daughter Sha' (Pronounced Shay) decided to get this pretty Ruffled Trench Coat with her old navy gift card she got from Grandma for Christmas. I absolutely adore the ruffled bottom. It is pretty & feminine and just perfect for Sha'. She wore it to the gallery stroll last Friday with her newsboy cap similar to this one----------->

I told her we need to go find a sweet pair of wellies & she will be set for spring. Something that is great about the coat is that it is less than $30 & comes in sizes xs which will fit your 5-6 yrld to size xxl which will fit your 12-13 yrld.

Here is another fun idea for Valetines Day treats. William-Sonoma has heart shaped cup cake pans. But even cuter than the cup cakes are the custom cupcake boxes to hold your lovely cup cakes in place so they arrive to your love oh so pretty. Wouldn't you be thrilled receive a pretty pink or red box with a pretty cup cake from someone who is thinking of you? I sure would. Heart cup cakes would be fun for a school party too. Thursday

Find of the Week * Vintage Labels

{Vintage Labels}
I was out and about today & happened into Cats Cradle in Provo. Glen proprietor of the shop had stacks of these vintage labels. I had to buy a few. I am framing the Auto Label-a broom label with great graphics-for my boys' room & my daughter has decided she wants one or two for her room as well. I had to get the 7-up Lithiated Lemon Soda label circa 1930- the slogan on the label is just so funny it reads " 7-up is more than a mixer... It blends out harsh features. Dispels hangovers. Takes the "ouch" out of grouch." What is particulary amuzing is that it is "Lithiated". I am sure any one that is having a dose of lithium with their 7-up will surely be happy and no longer "grouchy." There are days I wish my 7-up came like these did. The labels start at only $1 each. Stop by & sort through these lovely finds. Be sure to have a while to look there is so much in that little shop.
P.S. click on the image to see a larger view of the labels.

Find of the Week * Baker Coffee House Chair & Amy Butler Prints

{Baker Coffee House Chair & Amy Butler Prints}

When I get my apartment in San Francisco I will buy this chair by Baker to go in it. I love the clean smooth lines of the wood & the rounded back that looks like it would cradle your back just right so you could sit for hours and chat with your friends over cookies & tea looking out over the bay. I would most likely recover the seat in a print like this:

I love the graphics & colors on these Amy Butler Fabrics in her Midwestern Modern Collection

Not to worry I will still live in The Valley on the week days. My San Fransisco apartment will be for an occasional weekends & holidays. A girl needs the big city sometimes.
